Pap Smear Tips
Do not douche or use vaginal creams during two days before the test. Do not have intercourse within 24 hours of the Pap Smear, because it can cause inaccurate test results.

Procedures in the Office
Colposcopy
A way of looking at the cervix through a special magnifying device to look for abnormalities. This is done when you have abnormal cells noted on a pap smear, to determine to what degree of abnormality cells are to proceed with the correct treatment.
Endometrial Biopsy
A small sample is extracted from the lining of the uterus. This procedure is for heavy bleeding/abnormal bleeding and abnormal ultrasound.
IUD
A type of birth control that is a small plastic device that is inserted and left inside the uterus to prevent pregnancy. Mirena ia a five year treatment.
